Tea Ceremony Experience at Galveston Arts Center

Discover the Story Behind Every Bowl of Matcha

Matcha is enjoyed around the world, but its deeper cultural meaning is often left untold.

This interactive experience introduces participants to the history, philosophy, and etiquette of Japanese tea culture while providing the opportunity to prepare and enjoy matcha using authentic tea utensils. Participants will explore the values of harmony, respect, purity, and tranquility that have shaped Japanese tea traditions for centuries. Guided by family traditions passed down through generations, the session offers practical skills that participants can continue using long after the workshop.
